The 2014 Element 20 departs from the historical blend of Bacchus and Chardonnay – consisting of 35% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Gris and 30% Pinot Blanc. Fermented separately in one to five-year-old French oak barriques the wine was left on full lees for eleven months before bottling.
Complex, mature, elegant and stylish, this silky, rich, full bodied wine has a balancing acidity that will ensure even further complexity is achieved in years to follow.
Element 20 is a carefully crafted blend of hand harvested Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Bacchus. The wine’s strong sense of place is enhanced through minimal winemaking intervention. Fresh creamy and flinty nose with an underlying green apple fruit character and lovely toasty complexity. Rounded and smooth with flavours of apples on the palate and a hint of sweet almond on the finish. This is an elegant wine, beautifully defined with racy acidity and creamy texture.
