The Wine Merchant highlights Litmus at the Annual English Wine Producer’s Tasting
John Worontschak’s Denbies-based project is making wines with a depth and complexity that has raised the bar for still wines in England. Its Element 20 Bacchus/Chardonnay blend from 2013 is rich and textured, with a nutty finish, while the white Pinot Noir from 2015 is lively, spicy and layered. Worontschak admits to finding many English wines too acidic and goes out of his way to avoid an occupational hazard working above the 50th parallel. “God gave us malolactic for a reason,” he says.
